HOT-IN-PLACE RECYCLING (HIR) milling process corrects ruts and disrupts transverse and longitudinal cracks in the top 2u201d of existing pavement. Repairing damage caused from traffic loading, weather intrusion and oxidation without the need to mobilize hot mix plants or aggregate stockpiles.
The ability to recycle in-place reduces costs associated with purchasing and delivery of raw materials. Because HIR is nearly 100% recycled in place the overall environmental and infrastructure (county roads and bridges) impact is minimized.
Asphalt Rejuvenating Agent (ARA) is an emulsion with a chemistry that separates and coats the asphalt in the existing Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavement revitalizing the ACu2019s character for use in the HIR pavement. The Bettis temperature controlled ARA emulsion system is managed by an interface that constantly monitors ground speed and application rate to deliver a consistent and accurate supply of ARA.
